Imagine checking the news one morning to see this headline:
WORD OF GOD NOW AVAILABLE IN EVERY LANGUAGE
Let that sink in for a second. What would go through your mind as you read this statement?
“Every language? Just how many languages are there?”
“It’s about time—only took them two thousand-something years!”
“Finally, some good news for a change!”
…And what good news it would be! Think for a moment about what Jesus says in Matthew 24:14: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Granted, He mentions more than a few other things that need to happen before that last day. And we’ve seen in recent natural disasters and wars what some have interpreted to be the “beginning of the birth pains” (Matthew 24:8).
But the likelihood of the Gospel being preached to every nation on earth seems a bit farfetched sometimes, doesn’t it? There are 7.7 billion people on this planet—an incomprehensible number. There are over 7,000 different languages spoken. Both of these seem to be insurmountable obstacles to fulfilling Jesus’ prediction.
However—and here’s the exciting part—we can and will achieve what God has promised. He will ensure it. What’s more, we are on track to do so within our lifetime.
Light is piercing the darkness; the Gospel is spreading to the farthest reaches of the earth!
Hope is coming to the hopeless.
